Affiliate Disclosure

Effective date: March 28, 2026  ·  Last updated: March 28, 2026

Short version: Some product links on ClosetIQ are affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a commission from the retailer — at no additional cost to you. This is how we keep ClosetIQ free to use. We always disclose this, and it never affects what our AI recommends.

What is an affiliate link?

An affiliate link is a specially formatted URL that includes a tracking code identifying ClosetIQ as the referring site. When you click an affiliate link, you are taken to the retailer's website as normal. If you complete a purchase during the cookie window (typically 24 hours to 30 days depending on the retailer), the retailer pays ClosetIQ a small commission — typically between 2% and 15% of the sale value.

The price you pay is identical to what you would pay if you navigated directly to the retailer's site. Affiliate links do not add any surcharge to your order.

Which links on ClosetIQ are affiliate links?

You should assume that any product "Shop" button or "Buy" link on ClosetIQ may be an affiliate link. This includes:

Not every link is an affiliate link — some products may link directly to a retailer without an affiliate tracking parameter — but you should treat all outbound product links as potentially affiliated.

Affiliate programs we participate in

ClosetIQ may participate in affiliate advertising programs operated by retailers and affiliate networks. These programs allow us to earn commissions when users click qualifying product links and make purchases. We update this disclosure as our affiliate relationships evolve.

Affiliate networks we may work with include major platforms such as Amazon Associates, ShareASale, Commission Junction (CJ), Impact, Rakuten Advertising, and direct retailer programs. Only programs we are actively enrolled in are in use at any given time.

FTC disclosure compliance

This disclosure is made in accordance with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's (FTC) guidelines on endorsements, testimonials, and material connections, as described in 16 CFR Part 255 and the FTC's guidance on disclosures in digital advertising.

Under FTC guidelines, a "material connection" (such as earning a commission) must be disclosed whenever it could affect the credibility of a recommendation. This page, combined with the footer note visible on every page of ClosetIQ ("Some links are affiliate links"), constitutes our sitewide disclosure.

Does earning affiliate commissions affect our recommendations?

No. Our outfit and product recommendations are generated entirely by AI based on the style preferences, occasion, budget, and body type inputs you provide. The AI does not have visibility into which products carry affiliate links or what commission rates are associated with different retailers. Commission rates play no role in what is recommended to you.

We do not accept payment from retailers or brands to guarantee placement in AI-generated outfit recommendations. We do not have "sponsored" outfit cards or paid product placements in organic recommendation results.

Our commitment to you

How to avoid affiliate tracking (if you prefer)

If you prefer not to use affiliate links, you can search for any product directly on the retailer's website using the product name or description shown on ClosetIQ. You can also use a browser extension that strips affiliate tracking parameters from URLs before you click.

Changes to this disclosure

We may update this Affiliate Disclosure as we add or change affiliate partnerships. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when changes are made. Your continued use of ClosetIQ constitutes acceptance of the current disclosure.
